Transfer Credit & Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Policy
We recognize that students bring valuable prior education and experience to our programs. To honor that, we offer two distinct pathways to receive credit:
- Transfer Credit – for previously completed certified education.
- Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) – for professional experience and demonstrated skills.
1. Transfer Credits
What It Is
Transfer credit allows you to apply graduate-level certified education you’ve already completed toward your program with us.
How It Works
- Learning Objectives – Does the course cover the same competencies as our curriculum?
- Faculty Qualifications – Were the instructors qualified at the graduate level?
- Contact Hours – Minimum of 30 hours per training must overlap with our program requirements.
Our Process
- Apply & Be Accepted – You must first be admitted into our program.
- Upload Documents – Provide your transcripts, syllabuses, and course details through our student portal.
- Audit & Review – We compare your materials to our curriculum. A dean of academics or student dean determines if there is significant overlap.
- Credit Awarded – If approved, we may award up to 3 quarter credits per class.
Tuition Discount for MA in Integrative Psychology
For every 3 credits (1 class) that are approved as transfer credit, you will receive a tuition discount of $1,562.50. This discount is applied directly to your tuition balance, reducing the overall cost of your program.
If You Don’t Have Syllabuses
Upload contact information for your past institution. We will reach out to request syllabuses with learning objectives, faculty credentials, and contact hours.
2. Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
What It Is
PLA allows you to earn credit for the professional skills and experience you’ve already developed in coaching, psychology, or related fields.
What You Need to Submit
- Two Recorded Coaching Sessions
- Each at least 45 minutes long.
- Must be with real clients (no roleplays).
- Recorded within the last 2 years.
- Select sessions that align with topics in our coursework (e.g., trauma-informed approaches, somatic work, nervous system regulation).
- Written Reflections (One per Session)
- Minimum 750 words each.
- Should explain your decision-making, interventions, and observations.
- Answer the following required reflection questions:
- How did you assess the client’s needs/goals before and during the session?
- What framework did you use, and how did it guide your approach?
- What did you observe emotionally, physically, or behaviorally in the client?
- Why did you choose the interventions you used?
- How do your choices align with best practices or your theoretical orientation?
- If you could adjust anything in the session, what would it be and why?
Evaluation & Credit
A qualified faculty member reviews your recordings and reflections. If approved, your prior experience counts toward specific course credit, reducing both tuition cost and required coursework.
