Regulation, Compliance, Accreditation & Licensure Disclosure
Integrative Psychology Institute is a Member of COMMON Schools, licensed by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education (AZPPSE) as an institution of higher education. This license grants COMMON the authorization to offer degree programs leading to Master’s degrees in Integrative Psychology. This certification is a necessary authorization to operate legally as a higher education institution within the state.
As a licensed higher ed institution, COMMON is pursuing both institutional and programmatic accreditation. Institutional accreditation evaluates COMMON as a comprehensive educational institution. This accreditation is essential for students to qualify for federal financial aid programs, particularly those under Title IV of the Higher Education Act. Programmatic accreditation, on the other hand, assesses explicitly the quality and rigor of the psychology programs offered by COMMON.
Institutional Accreditation
COMMON is actively seeking institutional accreditation from a federally recognized accrediting body as a Title IV gatekeeper, enabling broader access to federal student aid for its students. Students graduate with a degree from an accredited institution, provided the accreditation is completed by the time students finish their degree, not when they begin.
Disclosure for Students Seeking Licensure
In accordance with the Higher Education Act, Institutions must notify students of all states and territories where each program meets licensure requirements, ensuring clarity and transparency for students.
We are committed to transparency regarding professional licensure pathways. Please carefully review and acknowledge the following:
1. Unlicensed Private Practice
Our MA, Integrative Psychology, is designed for individuals pursuing careers in integrative mental health coaching, integrative therapy, or other non-licensed professions. These roles are not a substitute for licensed psychotherapy or psychological treatment.
2. Licensed Practice
Students seeking LPC licensure can enroll in our MS in Clinical Counseling, which meets licensure requirements in all US states except Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Ohio, provided students graduate on a timeline aligned with our institutional accreditation.
2. State Licensure Requirements Vary
Licensure requirements vary from state to state and typically include:
A degree specifically designed to meet the educational standards of the relevant licensing board.
Supervised clinical hours.
Successful completion of a national or state licensing exam.
3. Student Responsibility
It is the student’s responsibility to research and understand the licensure requirements in the state(s) in which they intend to practice, and to recognize that while our programs may fulfill the educational requirements of licenses, they do not, in and of themselves, guarantee licensure.
